Another Sega Game Is Getting Turned Into A Movie, And It's Probably Not One You Expect

Just because Borderlands failed to launch at the box office, it doesn’t mean Hollywood is giving up on video game movies. Perhaps thanks in part to the success of Sonic the Hedgehog’s two movies, another classic Sega game is coming to the big screen: Eternal Champions.

Via The Hollywood Reporter, Skydance is producing the live-action Eternal Champions movie. The game was originally published by Sega for the Genesis in 1993, and the story revolved around a tournament to determine who the new Eternal Champion would be. Characters from the past, present, and future were brought together to fight until one emerged as the victor. The winning participant would get to resume their life and fulfil their destiny as humanity’s champion. The rest would be returned to the moment of their respective deaths.

Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom scribe Derek Connolly will tackle the script for Eternal Champions. His previous credits include Safety Not Guaranteed, Kong: Sku…

Switch On Pace For Its Worst Sales Year But Is "Stable" For A Console So Old

Nintendo has announced that Switch hardware and software sales were “below expectations” for the first nine months of its latest fiscal year (April-December 2024) and is also now expecting to sell fewer Switch consoles and games than it previously forecast.

Whereas Nintendo initially announced it was expecting to sell 12.5 million Switch consoles for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, it now expects sales to reach 11 million. Additionally, Nintendo originally modeled 160 million game sales for the fiscal year but is now expecting 10 million fewer, or 150 million.

Despite the lower-than-expected results for the latest period, Nintendo said the Switch “continues to be enjoyed by many people.” Nintendo management said Switch sales have been “stable” for a platform in its eighth year, noting that the Switch Lite: Hyrule Edition, which was released during the holiday, showed “steady growth.” Nintendo management also reminded people that Nintendo released multiple Switch O…

Cobra Kai's Season 4 Terri Silver Twist Was A Long Time Coming

It’s been teased since the end of Season 3, but now Cobra Kai fans are about to finally see the return of maniacal billionaire Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) in all of his rich and evil glory. And while it may seem like it took a long time to get to the point of Kreeze (Martin Kove) calling in his fellow Vietnam war soldier (and the primary antagonist of Karate Kid III), Silver’s return to the franchise has been part of the creative team’s plan since the beginning of the show.

“We love the Terry Silver character from Karate Kid III. We’ve talked about his character from the beginning, you know, from before writing the first episode,” co-showrunner Hayden Schlossberg told GameSpot. “You just don’t know at what point he’s going to enter in the early days. We didn’t say, ‘Okay, it’s gonna be Season 4.’ You really have to kind of plan things out. We knew that we wanted to have a lot of fun with that character and we wanted to devote the story space to that …

Chris Pratt Open To Being Star-Lord Without James Gunn

With this week’s nationwide release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 fans will say goodbye to not only James Gunn’s tenure at the studio but also Dave Bautista and Zoe Saldaña as Drax and Gamora, respectively. The entire release of the movie has centered around saying goodbyes, but it might not be the last time for a certain cast member.

“It would be strange to continue [Star-Lord’s] story without James,” Pratt told Total Film. “He’s done such a masterful job in the first three films. We really found the voice of Peter Quill together and without him, obviously, I would never have had this opportunity. He writes it, he directs it, he dreams up the music, it’s his imagination on screen. So, to continue to tell the story, it would really be important to honor what he’s done in the first three films and to honor what the fans have grown to love about the character and not simply do it because people might show up to pay for it, you know?”

Pratt’s first outing as S…

Ex Blizzard Boss Wants To Be Able To Tip Devs At The End Of A Game

Former Blizzard president Mike Ybarra has suggested that tipping culture could benefit games, with some “special” single-player games leaving him wishing he could give more money to developers after completing them. Ybarra noted that “most will dislike this idea,” with many consumers already tired of tipping culture coming to other industries.

Ybarra introduced the idea in a tweet, as picked up by IGN, saying he had been thinking about it for a while as he was playing more single-player games.

“At the end of the game, I’ve often thought, ‘I wish I could give these folks another $10 or $20 because it was worth more than my initial $70 and they didn’t try to nickel and dime me every second,'” Ybarra explained.

“Some games are that special,” he added, listing games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Elden Ring among the games he would be tempted to pay a little extra for.

“I know most will dislike this idea,” Ybarr…

Journal Review

Journal is a memorable game, but not a particularly good one. This creation of developer Richard Perrin and his company Locked Door Puzzle is noteworthy for its hand-drawn graphics, superb music, and vaguely morose teen-girl atmosphere that stays with you well after you wrap up the brief two-hour story. But the potential impact is watered down with too many after-school-special plot points and a disjointed narrative style that is way too avant-garde for the lightweight material.

Initially, however, Journal is very intriguing. The story centers on a nameless teen girl who finds that all of the pages of her daily journal have somehow gone blank. You start with a metaphysical mystery that might be termed The Case of the Erased Journal, but things veer off on a tangent almost immediately, with the journal being forgotten due to the girl’s many other problems at school and at home. Her mom and dad have split up, windows have been broken, tests have been cheated on, and snow globes …
